Hardware & Software Architecture

The latest addition to the ICTS HPC facility is the 672-cores Dell cluster. This cluster is composed of 15 nodes, installed in the ICTS data center. Of the fifteen, one head node and all others are execution nodes. This is a homogeneous cluster with each node consisting of 96 processing cores with hyperthreading enabled. The cluster nodes are connected using the Mellanox Infiniband switch.

Hardware Overview:

The cluster has 14 nodes and the hardware configuration for each node is as follows:-

  • Compute Nodes:

    • Dell PowerEdge C6525 server
    • Process Model AMD EPYC 7352, 2 processors (24 cores each) operating at 2.3 GHz clock speed
    • 256GB Main Memory DDR4 ECC SDRAM
    • 480GB 6Gbps 512 2.5in SSD for OS and system software
    • 480GB 6Gbps 512 2.5in SSD mounted as “localscratch” (mount space ~331GB)
  • Master Node:

    • Dell PowerEdge R6525 server
    • Process Model AMD EPYC 7352, 2 processors (24 cores each) operating at 2.3 GHz clock speed
    • 16* 16GB Main Memory DDR4 ECC SDRAM
    • 2 x 2.4TB 10K RPM SAS 12Gbps 512e 2.5in for OS and system software. 1.8TB mounted as “localscratch” (mount space ~1.8TB)
  • Storage:

    • Based on BeeGFS parallel file system
    • Total usable capacity 150 TB primary storage
    • Throughput 5 GB/s
