Hardware & Software Architecture

The latest addition to the ICTS HPC facility is the 1536-cores HPE cluster. This cluster is composed of 98 nodes, installed in the ICTS data center. Of the ninety-eight, two head nodes and all others are execution nodes. This is a homogeneous cluster with each node consisting of 32 processing cores with hyperthreading enabled. The cluster nodes are connected using Gigabit Ethernet switches.

Hardware Overview:

The cluster has 96 nodes and the hardware configuration for each node is as follows:-

  • Compute Nodes:

    • Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2620 v4, 2 processors (8 cores each) operating at 2.1 GHz clock speed
    • 64 GB Main Memory DDR4 ECC SDRAM
    • 1000GB SATA 6Gbps HDD for OS and system software
  • Master Node:

    • Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2620 v4, 2 processors (8 cores each) operating at 2.1 GHz clock speed
    • 256 GB Main Memory DDR4 ECC SDRAM
    • 2 x 400 Gb Enterprise SSD for OS and system software
  • Storages:

    • Network Attached Storage of 200 TB capacity usable after the RAID
    • Archiving Storage: Network Attached Storage of 250 TB capacity usable after the RAID

Operating system

Each computing and master node runs the CentOS Linux operating system, version 7 and you’ll have to interface with them by using the command line.

Thus, you are more than encouraged to become familiar – if not yet – with Linux commands. We can recommend the following sites and resources:
